CASE: Collect Orla’s birthday gifts and surprise her for her 500th birthday!
OUTCOME: The mobile unit was able to collect all of Orla’s birthday gifts and distract her long enough to surprise her for her 500th birthday. In order to collect Orla’s birthday gifts they had to read three different maps to determine where they were, and where they had to go.
COLD CASE EXTENSION ACTIVITY:
Oh no! Something VERY ODD has happened! The landmarks on maps are moving around so there is no way to find out where we are or where to go! In order to get the maps back to normal you must draw your own map.
To complete the mission, you will need:
1. A piece of blank paper
2. Crayons
3. A prize/toy
Once you’ve gathered your materials, follow these steps:
1. Choose a room in your house.
2. Take your piece of paper and crayons and map out what the room looks like. You can use big landmarks to help you get started such as a couch, bed, table, or TV.
3. When you are done drawing your map, hide a prize/toy in the room and draw an “X” on your map to mark where you hid the prize.
4. Ask someone in your house to look at your map to find the hidden prize/toy!
