EXPERIMENT: Find the meteorite that hit the Earth.
HYPOTHESIS: Since Eyes was able to track the meteorite on his camera, Anne and Nick should be able to find the meteorite before anyone else!
METHOD: Gather all of Anne’s rock collecting tools and hide Eyes in the cart so no one sees him. Then, head to the beach to search!
RESULT: Anne and Nick were able to dig up the meteorite before anyone else, while also keeping Eyes hidden and safe.
CONCLUSION: Meteorites are small rocks that fall from outer space. They are dark, heavy and magnetic.
EXTENSION ACTIVITY
Start collecting rocks to make your own rock collection just like Anne! Go outside and try to find 5 rocks that look different from one another. Once you have collected your rocks, bring them inside and make your own observations about what they look like
1. Observe their shape and place them in order from largest to smallest
2. Observe their colour and place them in order from lightest to darkest
3. Hold each rock and rank them in order from lightest to heaviest
Once you are done your observations, have some fun and make your rock collection special! You can grab some markers or paint and decorate your rocks!
